My Favorite Clothing Brands of 2023
For my wardrobe, 2023 was a year of classics and new discoveries. I’ve found that many brands that were my go-to shops a few years ago have repeatedly disappointed me with their styles and lack of quality in the past couple of years. Fortunately, I have discovered a handful of new brands that fall perfectly in alignment with my “hunt country chic” personal style. In addition to their classic styles, these brands also provide their customers with a winning combination of superb quality, craftmanship, and customer service. If you, too, are finding it difficult to find quality pieces in many of the high-street and department stores and are looking for classic investment pieces to add to your wardrobe, this list is for you.
Aavelle
If classic, effortless, and elegant are words that match your personal style, Aavelle is a must-shop brand for you! I love the neutral colors and natural, quality fabrics that this brand uses - Aavelle’s collections, as noted on their website, aim to be the ‘epitome of timeless elegance’. A few of my favorite pieces from Aavelle are their pleated midi skirts, boat neck dresses, velvet hair bows, and silk twills.
Barbour
If you daydream of long walks in the Virginia or English countryside, you have undoubtedly had daydreams that incorporate one of Barbour’s iconic waxed jackets. While the brand’s most famous piece is a true icon and wardrobe essential if you live in the countryside, Barbour also has many other lovely pieces for your wardrobe (and your pup’s!). In addition to their classic waxed jacket which is a piece I wear daily in the fall and winter, I also love their gilets, dog coats and jumpers, and knitwear.
Beaufort & Blake
Speaking of dog walks and spending time in the countryside, Beaufort & Blake is another fabulous brand that you’ll see me donning most days if I’m not dressed up. They produce the most comfortable yet elegant Oxford shirts. I also love their check shirts for a classic, country look, and their half button sweaters also do not disappoint!
Fairfax & Favor
If you’re a regular reader or you follow me on Instagram, it will be no secret that I have a slight (albeit warranted and understandable) obsession with Fairfax & Favor. When it comes to impeccable quality and customer service, Fairfax & Favor is truly unmatched in the industry. From their handbags and classic Regina boots to their recent expansion into outerwear, I can’t imagine ever being anything less than absolutely thrilled with any of their pieces. They also have an equally elegant line of accessories and footwear for men, as well as lovely dog collars and leads.
Kiel James Patrick
It probably comes as no surprise that my style is in alignment with many classic, British brands. However, it is important for me to shop locally and from small, U.S.-based companies whenever possible. Kiel James Patrick’s women and men’s clothing reflect the rich New England heritage and charm of the brand. The brand’s sweaters are the perfect weight for a cool, wintry day, and their dresses and shirts all have a classic Americana flair to them that makes them the perfect pieces for a lady in Virginia. My husband also loves their classic flannel shirts.
