Visiting Hunter’s Head Tavern in Upperville

Just down the road from the beautiful town of Middleburg is Upperville, a small town in Fauquier County notable for its horse farms and beautiful country estates. Nestled in the town is Hunter’s Head Tavern, a lovely historic tavern serving some of the best organic and locally-sourced meals in the area. Everything from the lovely cork menus to the hunt country-inspired foliage (I’ll now be adding feathers and cabbages to my next seasonal arrangement!) is carefully considered, thus creating an inviting, cozy and elegant English country-style ambience.

They are currently featuring a Valentine’s Menu in addition to their regular fare, and we thoroughly enjoyed our most recent visit. We started with a delightful Sparkling Elderflower cocktail which we sipped on in the courtyard while waiting for our table. To eat, I had the Tempura Cauliflower and Mushrooms which delighted both me and my meat-loving husband — it was so good, he said he’d pass on his steak for it! To wrap up the meal, you can’t beat the Tavern’s Sticky Toffee Pudding… it’s truly the best version I’ve ever had. So good that I’ve gone on a bit of a Pinterest frenzy trying to find the best Sticky Toffee Pudding recipe to recreate at home.
