Local Sips | Cedar Run Brewery

Nokesville, Virginia

When we are looking for a quiet, relaxed afternoon with our dogs somewhere outside of our home, one of our go-to places is Cedar Run Brewery in Nokesville, Virginia. The drinks are delicious (bonus points for affordability!), the people are friendly, and the scenery is the definition of Virginia countryside. Cedar Run offers a delightful retreat during all seasons — beautiful greenery and hummingbirds a plenty in the summer, a dazzling array of amber tones painting the grass and trees in the fall, and a truly festive environment as we enter winter where you will find yourself with the opportunity to sip on a glass of warming red wine while admiring the views of a Christmas tree farm out back.

We love the small, local feel of Cedar Run Brewery — it’s the perfect place to escape and immerse yourself in a truly local, farm-style brewery. Serving both wine and beer, it’s also the perfect place to go if you and your partner prefer different sips (the classic “beer for him, wine for her”). There is almost always a wonderful food truck providing delicious bits to nibble on, and the brewery has a lovely and expansive dog-friendly patio that is situated perfectly to provide a cooling breeze during the hot summer months.

What We Sip On

I am most often found sipping on a glass of rosé during the summer months, and a delightful merlot or cabernet sauvignon as the temperatures drop. My husband, on the other hand, it a fan of the Hay Day Hefeweizen — a classic, German brew. Cedar Run also offers a number of hop-forward beers in addition to mead, sours, and ciders.

Pet Policy

In case it wasn’t already clear, one of the reasons we love Cedar Run is their dog-friendly policy and ample outside locations for you and your pup to enjoy the countryside views offered in Nokesville. Whether you’re looking for a sunny spot in the grass, a bistro table nestled under a tree, or a spot to sit under a large, covered patio with your dogs, you’ll find it at Cedar Run.
